Star of the Week

Okay. This week is starting out GREAT! This has got to be short, because its late on a Sunday night. I was selected as the Star of the Week at crazy for dogs. Please check it out. I've posted some other links on the right hand side under my bio. This internet thing is amazing. You can find anything you want (plus allot of stuff you don't want). But if you like reading about me, you'll probably like a few of my links, so check them out too.

Rhiannon spent the whole day with Dad at some kind of dance camp thing. She had allot of fun, but everyone is really tired. I haven't told you much about Rhi yet. She loves to dance and she loves Sudoku. But she hates math. I don't understand how someone who hates math could love puzzles with numbers, but I'll probably never understand you humans to well anyway. I stuck a picture of Rhiannon at the bottom of this post.

My family is all over the flu (Aidan, Dad and I never got it). Thank goodness.

Bad Week

It's been kind of a bad week. It started with Joey getting sick (I mentioned that in my last post). Then Rhiannon got sick. Finally Mom got sick and that's tough on the whole family.

I got my cast off this week and that was good. I wore that collar for a while because I had a nasty pressure sore and I couldn't resist licking and chewing it. Now that it has cleared up, I don't have to wear that collar any more.

Aunt Amy came to see me. I really like her coat. especially the furry part. she had to hold my rawhide chew so that I wouldn't chew off her collar.

When I went to the doctor this week I was surprised that there was an orthopedic vet from the University of Illinois visiting the office. He took a look at my leg and said that it was hard to tell what it would end up like. I've been walking around on three legs mostly, but I'm trying to put weight on the one that was in the cast. I'm young and maybe it will all heal up okay. If not, the doctor told Mom that I'd fit right in with this family anyway. I think I like going to the doctor's office. There are all these vet techs who take care of me. They talk nice and make me feel special. I guess having a bad leg has some advantages. Mom says that I'm so pathetic and cute that I'm a real "chick magnet" whatever that is.
I think Mom is getting better. I hope she is well tomorrow. She holds this crazy family together and we just can't function when she isn't at her best.
You know, maybe this wasn't such a bad week after all. It depends on your perspective. I mean it was bad that everyone got sick, but everyone got well to and I got my cast off. I've only got three good legs right now, but I don't have the cast on and the doctor says that I may get my fourth leg back. Even if I don't there are worse things that could happen. It warmed up and the snow melted so I'm not freezing to and shaking when they take me outside to go potty. I am so happy to have a family that loves and cares for me. So I guess I'll say this was a pretty good week after all.

My Cast and Learning & Doing New Things

I got a new cast yesterday. It's green for Saint Patrick's Day. The reason I got a new cast is because I got water on my old cast which apparently I'm not supposed to do. And I have to wear a cone thingy so I don't bite and lick my cast. I have these really bad sores under my cast, so I need to be careful. The cone thingy will keep me from accidentally chewing on my cast. Well, at least I can move my toes again. (Booyah!) The nice vet techs gave me warm water therapy and bent my toes around until my doctor came in yesterday to look at my leg. The doctor says that my toes are getting better and may be normal again.

Yesterday was my first time officially out of the kitchen. I have a nice downstairs. And there's this nice, soft, red blanket which I love! It is wonderful! It is Aidan's blanket, but he let me use it. And I learned that if I go pee outside, I get a doggie treat! (Booyah!) I also like my human family. Okay, so I bit Aidan, ( my human brother,) on my first day here, but he got me real excited, and I couldn't help it.

Yesterday, My human Aunt Patty came and stayed the night and took a thousand pictures of me. She seems nice enough. She is my human dad's sister. She went to church with us this morning. Mom had to stay home because Joey was sick. I hope he gets better soon. Mom gets real upset when he's sick, because its hard to tell how sick he really is. He doesn't talk and generally doesn't complain even when he is sick. He can't tell Mom what hurts and that's what really frightens her.

Dad told me that at church it was "Amazing Grace Sunday." There is a new movie coming out about William Wilberforce who was responsible for ending the slave trade in England 200 years ago. The movie is called Amazing Grace. Wilberforce was friends with John Newton who was a former slave trader and wrote the song Amazing Grace. I put a link to the website about the movie with the rest of my links. Maybe you'd like to watch the trailer and go see the movie. Dad's gonna take the kids to see it and tell me all about it. He tells me that slavery is a terrible thing and even today there are people who are slaves. I think that's terrible. The movie will help people realize that even today they can make a difference and help to end slavery now and do other good things to make this world a better place.

I gotta' go. So, "Arf, arf!" In human speak, That's, "Bye-bye!"

Potty Training, the Cat and Joey

I want to tell you a little bit about what's been going on here. Mom has been trying to get me to go potty outside. There's one big drawback though. On Tuesday there was a blizzard here. Yes a real blizzard with 14 inches of snow and 40 mph winds. So dad got home (late because he had to drive home fom work in it) and he shoveled a path from the back door, across the patio and onto the grass. Well that's great, because I don't have to walk through the sonw. The problem is it is still below zero in the morning, and not much warmer during the day. Did you ever try to go to the bathroom in sub-zero temperatures? Let me tell you, it ain't fun. So I've been pretty good peeing outside for Mom, but I'm still not real good at Number 2. Okay, that's probably TMI, so I'll change subjects.

My new family has this cat called Gracie. I really didn't even know she was here for the first two days. She likes to hide in the linen closet where I guess its warm. Anyway, the other night when I was sitting on Aidan's lap, she jumped up on the bed and looked at me for about five seconds and then she yawned and stared away. She's actually very pretty. She's half siamese and half grey tiger. She seems to be tolerating me okay, which is good because Dad said if she doesn't get along with me, I'm outta here. She is kind of the queen of the house and although I'm getting all the attention, she is certainly the most important person in this house (at least she thinks so).

Probably the most interesting person in this house is little Joey. Now when I say little, you have to understand that compared to me, he's huge (I only weigh 5 pounds). Joey is the youngest kid in the house. He's 6 years old and autistic. Mom was telling me that means that he kind of lives in his own little world, but he definitely knows about me. The other day he was walking around saying "AH-KIE... AH-KIE", which Mom tells me means Rocky. And his helper at school, Miss Meghan, asked Joey if he had a new puppy, and he told her "AH-KIE". Then he stood up with her and she said to the class that Joey had a new puppy and he just smiled like crazy. Mom sent a picture of me to school with Joey today and he ran around all day carrying it and showing it to his classmates. Anyway, he's pretty cool and I hope someday that we can be good friends and I can help him with his autism. I put a picture of him below. Dad took this just after he put him in bed tonight. Joey has this puppy that he sleeps with every night, but maybe some day when I'm potty trained and they let me out of the kitchen, I can sleep with him and be his puppy.

Mom went out tonight and I really miss her.

Well, Dad is saying I gotta go back outside again. Geez, it's starting to snow.

My First Post

Well, if you read my profile, you know that I am a Boston Terrier Puppy that lives in Illinois. If you didn't read my profile, then, gee, why are you reading my blog? are you really that bored?

Okay, so I started this blog to tell you what my life is like. here's a little bit more about me...

I don't know exactly when or where I was born. My first recollection is when I met my family, the Stringers. Last Saturday night, I was staying at there sister Val's home and Val and Butch wouldn't let me stay. I didn't know what was going to happen to me. I had (and still have) a dislocated shoulder. Val and Butch have a big Golden Retriever named Huey. Huey's kind of a wimp. I could scare him off by swinging my cast at him.

Well, anyway... The Stringers lost power at their home around noon and came over around 7 PM, because it was getting pretty cold in their house. I played with the kids and let them pet me and generally did everything I could to make them love me. I really wanted to get away from that house I was in and besides I didn't know who would take me, if anyone, so I just did my best. So they didn't take me home that night, but from hearing about how cold it was in their home once power came back on at 10 PM, I'm pretty glad about that.

So then on Monday, Dad caved in and told Mom to call Butch up and bring me over. (Dad likes to pretend he doesn't love me, but I know its just an act.) Well, on Tuesday Mom and the kids (they have three, did I mention that???), took me to the vet. I had my shoulder looked at again and got a new cast put on. Because it was so close to Valentine's Day, they gave me a red cast with a pink heart on it. I guess at this point I better explain how I get my name and all that, otherwise you might start to wonder about this guy that likes pink hearts. Here's the scoop, I'm one tough puppy. I mean, I took on Huey and made him look foolish, even with a dislocated shoulder. I've got one leg that will probably be shorter than the other all of my life. I've lost all feeling in my toes on that leg. So Mom (who loves Sylvester Stallone, and all the Rocky movies), said, "He needs a tough name, because he's a tough dog." There were allot of suggestions, like Spike and Tuffy, but Mom said, "No, it is Rocky." So, that's how I got my name.
Next time I'll tell you a little more about my family and what's been going on since they got me (potty training, and other fun stuff).
I hope you like my blog. If you do, share it with your friends and visit me often.
